TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Bank Indonesia has reported that Indonesias payment balance in the first quarter this year was a surplus of $US7.7 billion, higher than US$ 6.6 billion during the same period last year. The ongoing transaction as well as the capital and financial transactions all contributed positively to the surplus.
During the first quarter of 2011, there was a US$ 1.9 billion surplus in the ongoing transaction. The capital and financial transactions in the first quarter of 2011 produced a US$6.2 billion surplus. This was supported by direct investment performance and portfolio, said Bank Indonesias spokesperson Difi Ahmad Johansyah.
