Indonesia’s target to produce 970,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd) this year seems to be more difficult to achieve following the announcement from oil and gas regulator BPMigas that as of Monday, the production rate was only 916,000 bpd.
Due to the gloomy reality, BPMigas head R. Priyono said that the agency and the government were now calculating a more realistic number to revise the oil production target.
He expected the result would be made available as soon as possible.
“It is really difficult [to achieve the target of producing 970,000 bpd]. We’re now calculating the realistic number,” he told reporters after the opening ceremony of a seminar and exhibition on corporate social responsibility in Jakarta.
