Pertamina EP, the upstream business unit of state oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, on Thursday announced that production at its six oil fields had exceeded earlier targets set by the company.
The six fields are the Rantau field in South Sumatra, the Lirik field in Riau, the Bunyu, Tarakan and Sangasanga fields in East Kalimantan and the Tambun field in West Java.
In a press statement received by The Jakarta Post, the company says the Rantau field produced 2,860 barrels of oil per day (bpd) or 17 percent more than its target, the Lirik field produced 2,375 bpd or 6 percent more, the Bunyu field 6,249 bpd or 35 percent more, the Sangasanga field 6,442 bpd or 18 percent more, the Tarakan field 830 bpd or 21 percent more and the Tambun field 8,808 bpd or 1 percent more.
Pertamina EP spokesman Agus Amperianto said the increased production was a result of the company’s efforts to optimize production equipment and drilling at several development wells.
